This Wetherspoon pub is an interesting conversion of a Methodist chapel built in 1878. In Autumn 2014 the pub was extended into a later chapel annex not previously occupied by the pub. This room is available for private functions. The main bar area is lit by two chandeliers hanging from an intriguingly decorated ceiling. Organ pipes, pews and even hymn book numbers can still be seen on the upper floor which is not open to the public.

    The Richard Oastler is a decent spot with reasonable prices, so I really can’t complain too much! The breakfast is pretty good, but the overall food quality could definitely use some improvement. I tried the fried chicken, and it tasted like it was fried in fish oil, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it’s an affordable place for a casual meal, but there’s room for improvement in the kitchen.

    Visited on the way through Brighouse on the M62 as it was quite close and you can't beat a spoons brekkue.it was a quiet Friday morning. No parking but found a space outside but fairly priced. It is a floor level spoons in a circle with a nod to its history above your head upon entering. Breakfast was served fairly quickly and it was delicious. Would call in again if we happen to be passing.

    Wow what can I say. The staff serving are fantastic. They never stop! June in particular is always welcoming and friendly. She works incredibly hard and makes sure any food orders are met with understanding and full knowledge ie- food allergies. Thankyou so much! The food is basic but you get what you pay for. I wish there was more choice for GF. The toilets located in a hallway. They have a carpet that smells very unclean.

    Always go in mid day when the kids are hungry. The meal deals are good and much better served and cooked than other Appons but the staff are also really welcoming. My only gripe is that the only baby change/accessible is behind a radar key lock which you have to get from the bar and queue for. This can often cause a problem when it's a toilet emergency. Would propose a baby change adding to both male and female toilets to support this.

    Ordered 3 small plates - chicken bites and southern fried chicken strips were fine sadly the Nachos were soft and the salad bits limp. Had this in other Spoons and they have always been first rate. Sadly not as good in Brighouse. Service was good and staff efficient. Beer always good and Monday cheaper so no complaints there.
