Local elections were held on 2nd May, 2019 to elect councillors to each of the 17 Calderdale Council wards.
Brighouse is the most easterly ward in Calderdale. It includes the town centre and the built up area of the town to the north of the River Calder. In the west are wooded hillside and stone quarries above Brookfoot.
The Brighouse ward is made up of Conservatives Scott Benton, Howard Blagbrough and Independent Councillor Colin Peel. They form part of Calderdale council and are elected every four years. No political party has overall control of Calderdale Council with Labour having the largest number of seats.
