Richard Oastler

This Wetherspoon pub is an interesting conversion of a Methodist chapel built in 1878. In Autumn 2014 the pub was extended into a later chapel annex not previously occupied by the pub. This room is available for private functions. The main bar area is lit by two chandeliers hanging from an intriguingly decorated ceiling. Organ pipes, pews and even hymn book numbers can still be seen on the upper floor which is not open to the public.

Ordered a large mixed grill at the bar, and specifically asked for the steak on the mixed grill to be cooked medium rare- when it arrived, the steak was cooked as well done as it could be and resembled leather rather than steak!! Upon complaining to the manager at the bar, I was then told that the steak was “too thin” to cook medium rare…..however, my fiance had exactly the same meal as me, and her steak was cooked medium rare as requested, proving it was possible to follow requests of customers with cooking instructions- so if the kitchen had redone the steak, or used a piece of steak that was apt for cooking medium rare like with my Fiance’s, there would have been no issue!! Avoid this place for food!! Terrible service after specifically requesting my choice of how I would like the steak cooked! Me and my family will not be returning here ever again!!

Good pub to start the night in. Large choice of beers at very reasonable prices. I had a pint of Shipyard pale ale £3.50. Very busy, however plenty of space both inside and outside.

Standard spoons but not sure why beers are more expensive than other wetherspoons in nearby places like Huddersfield Leeds and Bradford. Standard real ales were £2.99 a pint which is still a good pound cheaper than other pubs in Brighouse. Busy enough.

Me and the wife thought we would save on the washing up and cooking and pop out to our local spoons in brighouse. You know what to expect when you enter a weatherspoons, reasonable food at affordable prices and a great selection of drinks. We settled on a mixed grill and a tuna Panini with some extra onion rings and a couple of pints of Budweiser. The food came in under 15 minutes and was cooked well and tasted good. There were a few rowdy people in there who looked and sounded like they had been there all day but I found it more amusing than annoying. It wasn't the cleanest with quite a few tables with empty plates and glasses but eventually they were tidied up. Overall we will obviously go back as we got exactly what we expected. Good drinks and good food for the little we spent
