I would have loved to write a Better review as the location is stunning but unfortunately our experience wasn’t a good one. Firstly, the outdoor tables were absolutely filthy, there were bits and leaves all over the furniture cushions and bits of litter everywhere. This is so easily rectified by cleaning the tables in the morning and using a leaf blower to make sure the whole area looks nice. Secondly, we ordered a main meal and a starter but specified we wanted them together, the starter came first, after forty minutes we still didn’t have the burger so requested a refund. The table next to us had exactly the same issue, they too said the cleanliness was not acceptable. The food we did have was lovely but we wouldn’t return as it was too dirty outside.

We turned up on a Sunday afternoon and got a table in the bar area, overlooking the lake. Lovely setting. We were told that there would be a long wait for food, as "priority had to be given to the restaurant". I've never heard that one before - being sat down to be told that you are not priority. The menu offers a choice of meats or a Vegetable Roast. When I asked the waiter what the vegetable roast was he said he didn't know, as he had never had it. After a long pause he said he would go and find out. He came back and said that the vegetarian Sunday lunch was just served with cauliflower cheese and no roast. I was surprised by that and thought about asking him to go and double check, but just ordered something else instead. My daughter ordered the Sunday lunch, accepting it with just cauliflower cheese. After waiting around 45 minutes and being just about ready to get up and go, the food finally arrived. To my astonishment my daughter's plate had a vegetable roast on it, despite what I had been told. I spoke to one of the staff and to be fair she apologised and offered to have my order changed and to get a Sunday lunch with the vegetable roast for me quickly, cancelling what I have ordered. Within ten minutes I had a Sunday lunch in front of me. It was all very nicely done, plenty of everything and cauliflower cheese on the side. When the bill came, there was a another apology and a reduction for the inconvenience, which I appreciated. Overall the place has a lot going for it, with the modern interior, outside space and location by the lake. It's a big place though and doesn't feel friendly or welcoming. They need to sharpen up the service, as it felt like it's not completely in control.

We went last sat for my mums birthday . We booked for six afternoon teas with just one being vegetarian , It was very disappointing as two stands came to share between six and both were vegetarian and a little plate with about five small tuna sandwiches . The food wasn't good one sandwich was lettuce and tomato 😕 one was cheese and one egg ,the cake were a scone with cream and jam then just a few bite size brownies and bite size cheese cake. .the service was good but the lack of food and lack of understanding that one was vegetarian is to be desired I would not go back for afternoon tea but I'd try something else as the place was nice and the grounds were lovely.

Thank you so much Colin and the team, we came here for our mum's 70th and she had a lovely time - the food was delicious and we got to enjoy our food with a view over looking the lake. I'd go as far to say as the service here has been the most considered, generous and well rounded experience I think we could have asked for - and more. It's a special occasion for us to celebrate today and it'll be a wonderful memory to look back on. Looking forward to coming back soon !

Booked a bottomless brunch and paid £45. We were served 3 drinks in an hour and a half. Ignored by staff both at the bar when we were going to ask where our drinks were and when they passed our table. When we politely requested a refund, after having to ask staff twice, we got £15 chucked at us with a lack of apology or care! When we spoke to others who were also doing the bottomless brunch, they’d had the exact same experience. Avoid at all costs, I will never be going back!
